The dropping of the quantity and quality of Indonesia’s natural resources was convinced as the result of the escalation of people’s need to survive. This need encourage people’s attitude to become exploitative toward natural resources. The Adiwiyata Program was instigated by those reasons and supported by Indonesia Environmental Ministry. The aims of the Adiwiyata Program are to create good condition for school to become the learning place and center for people’s environment awareness improvement (teachers, students and other school’s workers) so that in the future, all school people will be able to responsible in the efforts to save the environment and sustainable development. The principles of Adiwiyata Program are participative and sustainability. This program has been started since 2006 in Java Island areas. The program spread out in 2007 to Bali, NTB and NTT and other areas in Indonesia territory. PPLH Bali was invited by PPLH Bali-Nusra on February 5 2007, to have the second introduction of Adiwiyata Program. The introduction was attended by school components, education office, environment office, non government organizations and journalists from all over Bali, NTB and NTT. This introduction was opened by Deputy of Environmental and Society Empowerment Communication of Indonesia Environmental Ministry, Mr. Sudariyono. Each province stipulated to send 10 schools (3 High schools, 3 Junior High schools and 4 Elementary schools) that meet requirements to get tuition to become an Adiwiyata School. This program is not compulsorily but encouraged. The school can see and experience themselves the advantages to have participated in the program. The indicator and criteria of the program are: A.   To develop the Environment Care and Environment Culture Policy. Not too different with the Adiwiyata Program from Indonesia Environment Ministry, Bali Environment Impact Control Supervisory (Bapedalda) has 10 years old program of School’s Afforest Competition. For Denpasar, this program handled by Denpasar Environment Office worked in conjunction with interested parties including PPLH Bali as Preparation Partner Team for Afforest Competition to Denpasar. The Preparation Partner Team’s duty is to partnering the selected schools to represent city/regency to meet the committee’s requirements. The criteria of the competition assessed from technical preparations, environment cleanliness, yard, classroom, canteen, garden, school elements and also school management. Each city/regency can be represented by each of Elementary school, Junior high school and high school. The preparation had been started since early March 2007. The assessment will be conducted by Province Team committee. We all are hoping together that these programs can really relay knowledge, increase awareness and change of attitude and active participation of people in school concerning the environment management and conservation.
