Trying to learn more about Transgenic products is very important to understand fully about what Transgenic is. So that we can be able to have decision whether to choose transgenic products or not. Konphalindo work in conjunction with PPLH Bali and BOA were held a transgenic products workshop on 14 September 2006 in PPLH Bali-Nusra’s hall at Sanur.
The workshop was attended about 80 people of government representatives, farmers, NGOs, Academics, tourism entrepreneurs and reporters from Bali, NTB and NTT. The aim of the workshop is to sharing information on the advantage, potential and possibility of the genetic engineered vegetation and the potential policy on the matter.

The result is expected from the workshop is that participants: understand and aware on genetic engineered vegetation, especially on the safety (on health and environment) and its progress. The farmer groups had developed an organic farming as an alternative sustainable farming that environmental friendly and healthy for the costumers. Also to understand the Protocol Cartagena Policy and Indonesia Regulation no. 2 2004 on Ratification of Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety to the Convention on Biological Diversity and also Government Rule no. 21 2005 on Genetic Engineered Product Biodiversity. The follow-up of the workshop’s result, the participants will be able to disseminate the information to others to be more cautious with this transgenic products.
