Entering the 14th visit at the end of February 2006, the Urban Green School team delivered subject about composting. The visit to the Depo Sanur Kaja a few months ago have made them easily understood about the composting process.

We not only told them how to do the composting, but also gave them responsibility to maintain the composting. The responsibility built through the divided duty every day, from Monday to Saturday. Every group has to add the organic waste from the schoolyard, monitoring the humidity of the compost and make sure there will be no inorganic waste in the compost bin. On every visit, we ask the leader of the group to give us the progress report of composting.

The activity on the next two visits was planting. On the previous topics, we have introduced them to plants and the advantage of plants. We provide many seeds, from vegetables to decorative ones. We used plastic bottles, glass bottles and bamboo as planting media. The students also brought the used things from their house to use as media. When did the practice, many students got interested to take care the plants at their own house. Considering their good will, then we agreed to give them the seeds that were not planted on the schoolyard. Through the group of duty, we gave them responsibility to take care the plants.

According to the report progress that we accepted every visit, they seemed have a good responsible in caring compost and plants. The good and routine treatment will produce a good result. We hope other students would take this as example to help their school in coping the waste problem. (ami)
