UNFCCC (United Nations Framework Conventions on Climate Change) that held in Nusa Dua Bali December 3 till 14 last year were attended by 10,000 delegations represented 185 countries which consisted of Head of Government, Ministers, academics, experts and NGOs. As the host, Bali had been well prepared that all delegates is in comfort and have the conference a big success. A group of NGOs in Bali did not bothered with the delegations accommodation this time. And this is a golden chance that could not be waste like other conferences. With enough preparation, PPLH Bali along with Bali Walhi, Bali Organic Association (BOA) and Wisnu Foundation agreed to give contribution to the international conference. The agenda to be endorsed to the conference was local issue Nyepi Day in Bali to become global issue, to make Nyepi motion pictures to be shown to the UNFCCC opening ceremony, admitted Nyepi as the local wisdom as the way to minimise the gas emissions in the president speech in the opening ceremony and the last is to be granted 12 local people to become delegation members in the UNFCCC.
The four full hard months was succeeded in the UNFCCC climax. But the collaboration committee was not satisfied with those results only. The real action to decrease the glass house gas emission effect with declaration of World Silent Day on 21 March 2008. To spread this idea, on March 17 2008, the committee was held a press conference. Aside of that a website, billboards and flyers had been distributed to people to campaign the idea of the World Silent Day, 21 March. The World Silent Day is conducted by shutting down all electronic equipments like computers, laptops, AC, cellular phones, lamps, refrigerators for 4 hours started from 10.00 to 14.00 hours. In the press conference society components like students, teachers, businesses, and all individuals that concerned with the environment agreed to support the World Silent Day. About 15 local radio broadcasters both in Jakarta and Bali, 2 National network television and newspapers had been supported the Day campaign.
